Yo, what it is! You know what it is—welcome to Morning Motivation with Musa!
I’m here to share some encouragement, wisdom, and truth to get your day started right. Today, we’re diving into Chapter Thirty-Eight of Lee McDowell’s amazing book, God’s Words Bring Life. Shoutout to Lee for breaking things down in a way that’s both real and relatable! Let’s talk about the work of our Good Shepherd.
Verse of the Day
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
This one verse sums up everything we need to know about God’s role as our Shepherd: “I shall not want.” Think about it—our Good Shepherd provides so completely that we’ll never lack anything essential.
Breaking It Down
Lee McDowell highlights some powerful truths in this chapter. Let’s unpack them together:
1. PROVISION AND PEACE:
Our Shepherd takes full responsibility for guiding us to green pastures. And here’s the twist: those green pastures aren’t found on mountaintops but in valleys. It’s in those low, quiet places that we find peace and provision.
2. PILLARS OF SUPPORT:
When we surrender to Him, He leads us on paths of righteousness—not for our own sake, but for His glory. It’s about walking in alignment with His purpose and letting Him take the lead.
3. PATIENCE AND CONTENTMENT:
All sheep crave comfort, and as God’s sheep, we’re no different. But the Holy Spirit steps in to protect, teach, comfort, and guide us, even when things get tough.
4. DEPENDENCY:
Whether it’s protection, provision, instruction, or comfort, we have to depend on our Shepherd daily. There’s no getting around it—we need Him for everything.
5. DWELLING IN CHRIST:
Here’s the truth: God’s goodness and mercy follow us every single day of our lives. His life dwells in us, and His presence is always with us.
Making It Personal
Let’s bring this home.
• At SFA:
Whether you’re juggling classes, navigating campus life, or just trying to find your place, remember that you’re part of a flock. And your Shepherd is right there, leading you through every challenge and victory.
• For Me:
I get it—life gets crazy. But I’ve learned that when I stop trying to figure everything out on my own and let my Shepherd lead, things just work out better. Trusting Him isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.
So, What’s the Takeaway?
Sheep aren’t forced—they’re led. And our Good Shepherd isn’t here to push us around. He’s here to tend to every need we have, so we can say with confidence: “I shall not want.”
