Yo, what it is! You know what it is—it’s your man Kingmusa, and welcome to Morning Motivation with Musa!
Today, we’re talking about freedom—the kind only Jesus can give. Big shoutout to B. Lee McDowell for his incredible book God’s Words Bring Life. This blog pulls inspiration and notes from Chapter Thirty-Nine: Truth (Christ) Makes Us Free. Let’s dive in!
Verse of the Day
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free… If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:32, 36
The Power of Truth
One thing we’ve got to keep at the forefront of our minds is this: Christ IS Truth. He doesn’t just speak truth or teach truth—He is the Truth. And when we know Him, we are made free.
Now, let’s pause here because there’s something important to clarify. Some translations say, “Christ sets us free,” but the Word says, “Christ makes us free.” There’s a big difference between being set free and being made free.
• To be set free could imply that freedom is temporary or conditional, like opening a door and letting someone go.
• To be made free is deeper—it means permanent transformation. It’s a total break from bondage, a new state of being that only Christ can create.
Scriptural Insights
Here are a few scriptures that back this up:
• Galatians 5:1
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.”
This verse reminds us that our freedom is absolute and complete. Through Christ’s sacrifice, we’re no longer bound by the old life.
• Romans 8:1
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”
This is one of my favorites. It tells us that we’re free from guilt and shame. Jesus doesn’t just free us from sin—He frees us from the weight of our past.
Living in Freedom
Here’s the thing: being made free in Christ isn’t just a one-time event—it’s a lifestyle. Those who walk in the Spirit and seek discernment will experience this freedom more and more. It’s a process, and God’s grace is at work every step of the way.
Making It Personal
Let me be real with y’all—I get it. Life can feel heavy sometimes. Whether it’s stress, bad decisions, or just trying to keep up with everything, we all have moments when we feel stuck.
But here’s the good news: knowing Jesus changes everything. He doesn’t just give us freedom for today—He makes us free for eternity. When you truly lean into Him, you’ll find the peace and confidence you’ve been searching for.
Relating to SFA
“At SFA, life moves fast. Between classes, work, and relationships, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But when you walk in the freedom Christ offers, you gain clarity and purpose. You can move through challenges knowing you’re never walking alone.”
Final Thoughts
Here’s a takeaway to hold onto: anytime you see the word “Truth” in Scripture, you can substitute the name “Jesus,” and it still fits perfectly. Why? Because Truth and Jesus are one and the same.
Being made free by Christ isn’t just a feel-good phrase—it’s the only true freedom there is. So, as you go about your day, remember that Christ has already done the work to make you free. All you have to do is walk in it.
