The Cheatsheet: Flaco Bucheli

 Intro by King Musa

"Yo, you know what it is! It’s your man, King Musa, and welcome to The Cheat Sheet, where we uncover the stories behind creators, artists, and innovators shaping their fields.

Today, I’m joined by Flaco Bucheli, a rising music producer and artist blending Latin and rock influences into unique, alternative sounds. We’re diving into his creative journey, the inspiration behind his music, and what’s next for his career. Let’s get started!"

Getting to Know Flaco Bucheli
King Musa: "Welcome, Flaco! Let’s start with your background—where are you from, and how did your journey into music begin?"
Flaco Bucheli: "Thanks for having me! I was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and moved to East Texas when I was six. Music’s always been a part of my life—my family played classical music, and I started with violin in middle school. It was tough, but it taught me discipline and control, which I carry into my music today."

KM: "What inspired your stage name?"
FB: "It started as a nickname from a close friend—‘Flaco,’ which means skinny in Spanish, and ‘Bucheli’ just fit as an artistic twist. It stuck, and now it feels like a part of who I am as an artist."

Blending Genres and Creating Music
KM: "Your music combines Latin and rock influences. How did you develop that style?"
FB: "I’ve always been drawn to rhythm and percussion, especially in Latin music. I started experimenting with rock sounds, layering them with traditional Latin rhythms to create something unique. It’s about blending the familiar with the unexpected."

KM: "What instruments do you gravitate toward in your music?"
FB: "Percussion is key for me—cowbells, drums, and anything with a groove. I also love the guitar for its versatility and how it adds layers of emotion to my songs."

Inspiration and Songwriting
KM: "What inspires your songwriting?"
FB: "Life experiences, art, and emotions. I’m inspired by beautifully crafted works, whether it’s a song or a painting. I want my music to reflect that same level of care and creativity."

KM: "Do you have any musical influences that shaped your sound?"
FB: "Definitely. Growing up, I loved the simplicity and catchiness of the Animal Crossing soundtrack. For Latin music, legends like Juan Luis Guerra and alternative artists like Rosalía inspire me to push boundaries while staying true to my roots."

Creative Process and Upcoming Projects
KM: "How do you approach creating a song?"
FB: "It usually starts with a strong emotion or experience. I’ll sit with my guitar and experiment with chords that match the mood. From there, I layer in percussion and other instruments to build the full sound."

KM: "What’s next for you?"
FB: "I’m working on new music and planning to release a project this summer. It’s been exciting to see my sound evolve, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone."
